Transforming juvenile justice in Alameda County is critical. Black and Latino youth make up 33% of the county’s population but represent 87% of the youth in the system. This imbalance calls for a shift from incarceration to rehabilitation.
Transforming Juvenile Justice in Alameda County: Shifting from Incarceration to Rehabilitation
Jeweld Consulting has partnered with the Alameda County Probation Department’s Positive Youth Development Division. We are mapping existing services and pinpointing areas for improvement. Through surveys, interviews, and focus groups, we collect key insights to guide reform efforts.
Our objective is to prioritize diversion from the justice system. When diversion isn’t possible, we ensure any time spent in the system focuses on rehabilitation. This approach empowers youth to build skills that support their future success.
