Capacity Development Program

Winter/Spring 2026

We are offering funded, project-based consulting support at no cost to selected nonprofits focused on health equity and social justice. This program is designed to help organizations strengthen internal operations, strategy, and capacity through dedicated, tailored support.

Up to six organizations will receive consulting services valued at up to $30,000 each. This is not a grant and not a paid service.

About the Program

This capacity development program is funded by the Alameda County Public Health Department. Organizations must:

  • Focus on health equity and/or social justice
  • Be located in Alameda County
  • Actively serve Alameda County communities

Who Can Apply

To be eligible, your organization must:

  • Operate and be located in Alameda County, California
  • Focus on health equity and/or social justice
  • Be a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit or have a nonprofit fiscal sponsor
  • Have an annual operating budget between $100,000-$10,000,000
  • Be able to dedicate at least 2-4 hours per week to the program

What We Offer

  • Individualized consulting support for up to six organizations
  • Services valued up to $30,000 per organization (in consulting & project hours, not cash grants)
  • Projects tailored to your organization’s specific needs, in one of the following categories:
    • Board development
    • Climate & organizational assessment
    • Marketing, communications, and donor engagement
    • Team and leadership development

This is not a cohort program. Each organization will work individually with our team to define scope, timelines, and goals.


Participation & Time Commitment

  • Participants may include executive leadership, boards, or staff, depending on the area of support requested
  • Project time commitments vary by service and will be defined in your scope of work
  • Reporting or progress updates will be requested through short surveys or check-ins, as agreed in each project

Selection & Review

  • Up to 6 organizations will be selected
  • Applications will be reviewed internally by our team
  • Selection is based on:
    • Alignment with health equity and social justice focus
    • Organizational readiness for project-based support
    • Potential impact of the support
